Questions and answers

Is this course for complete beginners?

Yes. You start with the alphabet and the sounds, and every word is introduced step by step. If you already know some Ukrainian, a placement test puts you at the right level.

How long does it take to reach B2?

Each module takes 20 to 30 minutes. At about 30 minutes a day, one level takes roughly two to three months.

Do I need to know Russian?

No. Ukrainian is taught as its own language, with its own alphabet, sounds and grammar.

What does CEFR mean?

The Common European Framework of Reference describes language levels from A1 to C2. Ukrainika follows it to B2, the level for independent conversation, work and study.

Is there audio for everything?

Yes. Every word, sentence and dialogue has audio in natural Ukrainian voices, over 6,000 recordings, with slower playback when you need it.

Can I practise speaking?

Yes. You record yourself in the pronunciation steps and get feedback on each sound and on the stress. In the role-plays you answer out loud, and from A1.2 you retell the stories against the clock.

Which devices can I use?

Any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Your progress is saved in your account.

In which languages are the explanations?

English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. You can switch at any time.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per level or once for the full course, and your access does not expire.
